Josh knew from a very young age that he was driven to be in the music scene. He received his first guitar at the age of 4, started lessons at the age of 6 and wrote his first song ‘Lovesick’ at the age of 8. Over the past 7 years he has built an impressive collection of original songs and is proud to release ‘Falling Apart’ as his first single.
‘Falling Apart’ was co-written and recorded with Tjaart Van Der Walt, a multi-instrumentalist, Singer, Songwriter, Producer & Mixing Engineer. Van Der Walt has produced artists such as Daniel Baron, Grace De La Hunt, Tiffany Tate, Timothy Bowles, Go The Rodeo, Tussen Sterre, Cortina, BornFree, Daniel Lurie and worked with Louise Carver and Timothy Moloi to name a few.
Josh absolutely loved working with Tjaart and is excited for the release of the single, saying “Tjaart is such an incredible producer to work with, he really understands the way an artist wants their music to sound. He allows for such a dynamic and diverse track to materialize. “
A multi-instrumentalist himself, Josh can play the piano, bass guitar and ukulele, and has shared the stage with some of SA’s greatest such as The Graeme Watkins Project, Daniel Baron, Richard Stirton, Ard Matthews, PJ Powers, Tima Reece and Loyiso Bala. Joshua played the character of ‘Control’ in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Starlight Express’ which ran for almost 6 weeks at the Joburg theatre and the role afforded him the front cover of the TONIGHT section in The Star. Josh was part of the children’s chorus of Daniel Baron’s hit single ‘Children of the Sun’ and was also part of the chorus for PJ Powers when she performed at the charity MES dinner. Added to his repertoire, Josh had a solo performance in the JYO ‘Night of the Stars’ and was backing vocals to Richard Stirton when he performed ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Subsequent to this, Richard asked the same group to be his backing vocals on the episode of ‘The Voice’ when he was invited back to perform in the season that Craig Lucas won.
‘Falling Apart’ is just the first step in an incredible solo music career that awaits young Josh Moreira. Keep an eye on this young man, cause he’s just getting started and what a start it is.
