Five years ago, a new kind of lifestyle festival debuted in the City of Cape Town. Its ambition was to inspire Uniqueness, self-expression and creativity. It was called Dusty Rebels & The Bombshells, and it inspired thousands of vintage fashion, auto and music enthusiasts to celebrate their individuality in style.
For its fifth birthday, DRTB returns to where it was born, The German Club in the Cape Town CBD on 04 November 2017.
Vendors and exhibitors will occupy space indoors, while an outside area will entertain auto displays and various fun and extraordinary activities true to the DRTB values of self-expression, creativity and uniqueness.
While there will be no dirt track and fun fair this year due to space constraints, Rebels and Bombshells will still be able to see a selection of pre 63” classic cars and bikes on exhibition.
Indoors, expect fine bands, burlesque peep show, bowling, bars, fashion, makeup, craft displays, demonstrations and much, much more, all for those rebels at heart, who put on their blue jeans, show off their tats, style their old-school flavour and show that they’ll never conform to the mundaneness of a normal routine.
Entries open on the 4th September for The Miss Bombshell Betty 2017 pinup pageant hosted by DRTB and The Blue Haired Betty. We are looking forward to seeing all the sexy and sassy pinups from around the country join us on the day.
But before all of that…
On Saturday 14 October 2017 the Café Racer Ladies’ Race, starts at 10am. The immaculately dressed and styled Cafè Racer ladies race from Jason Bakery to The House of Machines and finish at Bardough By Jason in Loop Street. Free admission, all women are welcome to join, as long as they are wearing heels, lips stick and are styled.
The ladies will dress up in true Rockabilly style (Tiki, Western, Black Leathers) and get ready to ARRIVE IN HEELS and LEAVE IN HEELS. How they get to their checkpoints is their secret – but they are not allowed to use cars, skateboards, motorbikes, or bicycles on the actual run. Each venue will be ready to “fuel” up the ladies with some juice the for the next destination.
For the men; they are invited to come support the ladies at the START line at Jason Bakery, ride to THoM and join in the end-of-race celebrations, some bubbles, and maybe a pic or two with the ladies at Bardough by Jason.
DRTB founders Maria and Zigi have actually issued a challenge to lady members of the media to join the race! “They can actually enter the race if they wish, or perhaps they can ride along with one of the spectator for a bit of thrill!”
